Right to Know
Dear Parent/Guardian,
At Marjorie Williams Academy, our highly qualified teaching staff provide your child with a high-quality education. As a parent of a child who attends a Title I school, you have a right to know about the degree, license, and certification of your child’s teacher. The following information will be provided to you upon request:
• Whether the teacher has met state qualifications and certification requirements for the grade level and subject he/she is teaching
• Whether the teacher received an emergency or conditional certificate through which state qualifications were waived
• Whether the teacher received an emergency or conditional certificate
• What undergraduate or graduate degrees the teacher holds, including graduate certificates and additional degrees, and major(s) or areas(s) of concentration
You may also inquire about whether your child receives help from a paraprofessional. If your child receives this assistance, we can provide you with information about the paraprofessional’s qualifications.
Our staff is committed to helping your child develop academic knowledge and critical thinking skills needed to succeed in school and beyond. That commitment includes making sure that our teachers and paraprofessionals are highly qualified.
If you have any questions about your child’s assignment to a teacher or paraprofessional, please contact me at (828) 733-5241.
